Happy St. Patricks Day!
What a gorgeous day! Hopefully you can get out and do some fun stuff today to celebrate St. Patricks Day. If you are like us you may have stepped outside this morning and got a feeling of doing some outdoor spring cleaning! If you are not ready to start any big projects a good one to start would be your car. Yes, you know that 4 wheel vehicle that is your second home! Start out by washing it yourself to save some money or splurge and bring it to the car wash. Does your trunk have a trunk organizer? If not, it’s time to get one. You can purchase a trunk organizer at www.containerstore.com or bedbathandbeyond.com. These two compartment storage containers are wonderful. They can be used to store sport equipment, blankets, clothes, yoga mats, etc. The great thing about the trunk organizer is it can be folded when you don’t need it! You don’t need a fancy garbage bag for all the rubbish your car collects, a simple grocery shopping bag hooked over the gear stick is a great place to quickly place garbage and can be dumped at the nearest trash can. If you work out of your car purchase a passenger seat organizer. The passenger seat organizer has compartments for your laptop, file folders, pens, etc. This product is also available at www.containerstore.com. To corral your kids small toys and crayons, purchase a fun colored tote that stays in the car. At the end of the day or week do a quick sweep of the car and place all those little items in the tote. Happy Spring Cleaning you car!
Shopping For New Clothes
I know it’s exciting, Spring is only two weeks away! If you are like us as soon as it starts getting warm you start thinking about your spring wardrobe. Before you even think about going shopping you MUST go through your closet. Remember the rule of bringing a new item in? If you bring a new item in an old item must be donated or tossed. This rule of thumb really works and keeps your closet under control. First, take a look at your winter wardrobe – what did you NOT wear this winter, if there are items you didn’t wear then serious consideration needs to be taken to see if you will wear it next year (the chances are you won’t!), if you decide you will not wear it again, get rid of it. Then take a look at your spring/summer line up from last year and if there are things that look not so good, toss or donate them. Decide what pieces you need to invest in to update your look and when you go shopping STICK to your list! And of course have fun!
WOODEN SPRING LOADED DIVIDERS FOR ORGANIZING DRAWERS
Jean and I have tried many different drawer organizers and we finally think we have found one we love. In my kitchen i have two large utensil drawers that needed dividers. I tried simple utensil trays that have moved around the drawers and never seem to look neat. Then, i tried plastic spring loaded dividers which i normally like because the work great and expand to the dimensions you want however they look a little tacky. I found expandable drawer dividers that i loved because they were wooden and look good in the drawers, however when you expand them parts of the dividers are not deep enough and spatulas and large spoons kept getting stuck. Jean and I both agree that we have finally found the perfect solution. At www.bedbathandbeyond.com and www.amazon.com – you can purchase wooden spring loaded dividers. My drawers look amazing and the dividers look like they are part of the drawer. The dividers are by www.axis.com. Check them out! They come in sets of two for $19.99 and are readily available at bed bath and beyond. FYI, they are not available at the container store.

Tips for Thanksgiving
A few simple tips for making Thanksgiving Day preparation a bit easier Do a lot of prep the day before – make desserts, peel potatoes and cut up vegetables. Buy desserts from a local Trader Joe’s or Bakery. Share the responsibility- have everyone bring the sides, you cook the turkey. And our favorite…Order a Thanksgiving dinner from the store. Wegmans is great!
Ease into the new school year
Beat the mad rush and get to the store now with your school supply list. Also, whenever possible, leave the kids at home you will complete your task quicker and most likely spend less
Also take a few hours one day to purchase some back to school clothes using all the coupons that are now available. Do this AFTER you have assessed your children’s clothing to see what still fits. When August comes and others are scrambling with the back to school tasks, you can continue to relax and enjoy the summer!
Okay Spring has sprung for a day and it will be summer this weekend.
So now it is finally time to pack away the winter clothes that we have been wearing up until yesterday. I managed to get the spring items out yesterday leaving the summer items tucked away however… time to break them out to for the weekend. Suggestion take spring and summer out at the same time and pack up the winter things leaving a few sweathshirts and jeans out. Then, purchase an over the door shoe hanger and start loading now for the spring/summer. Items such as suncreen, bug spray, sunglasses, hats, bubbles, kids flip-flops, bathing suits for the yard. Enjoy the beautiful weekend!
